When GTA 5 launched in September 2013, live games across mobile and PC reported DAU dips in the week following release. The size varied by genre and audience overlap. The studios that minimised it weren't the ones with the most content. They were the ones who saw it coming.
GTA 6 will land bigger. Console hardware sales will jump. Players who hadn't touched a controller in months will be back on the couch. Some of them are also your players.
You're not going to out-event a Rockstar launch. That's not the play. The play is knowing which of your segments overlap with console gaming, scheduling your high-engagement live ops in the weeks either side of November 19, and not putting your biggest event of Q4 directly into the blast radius.
It's six months out. That's enough runway to actually do something about it.
