India Esports Is Compounding

India Esports Is Compounding

S8UL qualified for 13 titles at the Esports World Cup 2026.

13 titles. One org. That's an all-time record for India.

I co-founded Team Err0r back when DOTA 1 was the game people were serious about in India. We were grinding on borrowed bandwidth, fighting for server ping, building a squad in a country where esports wasn't a career path. It was more of a personality flaw than a profession.

That was 2007.

BGMI esports pulled 930 million views in 2025. The BGIS prize pool this year is ₹4 crore. The Esports World Cup has 13 Indian slots.

I'm not surprised by the numbers. I'm surprised by how fast it's compounding.

The infrastructure finally caught up to the talent. Internet, smartphones, streaming platforms, prize pools that mean something. The generation that grew up watching teams like ours fall short against international squads is now the one setting records.

Where do you think Indian esports sits three years from now?
